Description
Alice&Bob is an ambitious startup developing the first universal fault-tolerant quantum computer. We gathered France's academic excellence to design a unique quantum bit based on Schrödinger's cat states of superconducting microwave resonators.
As a Patent Engineer you will join our theoretical team to strengthen Alice&Bob IP position by identifying technologies and product implementations for patenting as well as coordinating and conducting IP clearance for emerging patent implementations. The work will involve close liaison with various teams as well as frequent contact with our external patent attorneys.
- Closely follow R&D and product development to identify patentable inventions in collaboration with scientific project managers
- Collect data from technical and scientific teams to write down technical descriptions of inventions for new patent applications
- Prepare documents for patent filing, in collaboration with patents attorneys
- Manage the life of Alice&Bob patent portfolio: follow through the patents filing process, manage international extensions and the various legal deadlines
- Providing technical analysis prior art related to patentability, Freedom to Operate analysis or patents oppositions
- Implement competitors patent monitoring, analyze and present results to the R&D team and Engineering, identify patents/patent applications to watch and/or oppose
- Ensure strategic alignment of patent activities with technology roadmap and product strategy, organize and lead regular portfolio reviews
Requirements
- Advanced degree in physics – Strong scientific background
- Several years of professional experience in a similar role
- (Partial) qualification as European Patent Attorney advantageous, other trainings or qualifications in IP are beneficial as well
- Exposure to standard essential patents would be considered a bonus
- Critical thinking skills to analyze found results and completing a search report
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Solution-oriented problem solving with a sense for business and excellent interpersonal communication
- Demonstrated capacity to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Seeking excellence and thrilled by the challenge
